Pokemon Crystal What Level Does Togepi Evolve

Everybody remembers the good ol' Pokémon ofthe Day Guy, right? Well, once Gold and Silver hit the shores of the US
and all the hype had died down a bit, he decided to move to the top of
Mount Kilimanjaro to seek enlightenment. Now that every self-respecting
Pokémaniac has Ruby and Sapphire on the brain, however, it's high
time we revitalize the age-old tradition of bringing you your Pokémon
of the Day! And, as everyone knows, there's only one thing better than
a Pokémon of the Day Guy...a Pokémon of the Day Chick!

Each and every day we'll be taking a close and personal look at
one of these unique creatures called Pokémon. Here you'll find all
the moves you could ever want (learned, hereditary and all compatible TMs/HMs
from G/S/C and R/B/Y, if applicable), breeding chains for hereditary moves,
Pokédex entries, general descriptions, max stats, in-game locations,
weaknesses and resistances, gameplay tips and one or more suggested movesets

Have you played Pokemon Crystal Version?

(SUGGESTED, people; I'm not telling you what to do) to get the most bang
for your Pokébuck.

===============================INTRODUCTION==============================

I'll never understand why people like Togetic. Seriously. This thing
has laughably bad stats, is butt-ugly and has a boring type combo. Don't
get me wrong; I have a lot of respect for the Normal/Flying types Dodrio,
Pidgeot, Fearow and even Farfetch'd and Noctowl...but how many representatives
does that particular group need? And if they HAD to make another one, why
couldn't they have made it...oh, I don't know, GOOD? But alas, a surprising
number of people have requested I do Togetic, so here we are. Don't feel
bad if you can't get Togetic to work for you...it's hardly a reflection
of your skills as a trainer; Togetic just sucks.

I'm not in the mood to insult Togetic any more than I already have
(right this second, anyway), so let's just dive right into the moveset.
Ideally you'd switch it in against something you know is about to use Earthquake
(for example, your opponent's Marowak versus your Jolteon). Use Encore
and pray to whatever deity you worship that it strikes before your opponent
has time to use another move. Okay, so the thought of a Togetic outspeeding anything is a bit outlandish, but you might get lucky with Quick
Claw or happen to run into one of those reeeeeally slow Ground types like
Rhydon. If you're successful, your opponent will either be stuck using
a move you're immune to for the next few rounds or else switch out. Either
way, it means at least one free turn for you.

Next in line is Safeguard. This is all Togetic is really good for,
IMHO, setting up a Safeguard to benefit the rest of your party before
being recalled or killed. Safeguard is a decent move and the fact that
it remains in place even if the casting Pokemon leaves the battle is nice.
It's not a personal favorite of mine, but it's not like Togetic has a whole
bunch of other options.

Sunny Day, Fire Blast and Solarbeam are just filler as far as I'm
concerned. If you have an Encore in place you'll most likely have time
to set up a Sunny Day, after which you use Fire Blast or Solarbeam. Both
are powerful Special attacks that benefit greatly from Sunny Day, so choose
whichever one better compliments the rest of your party's moves. Also,
Sunny Day is another one of those handy attacks that can be pseudo-passed
to the rest of your party, so this Togetic might work well on a team with
several Fire types or Synthesis-users.

Don't even bother trying to find a STABed attack for Togetic; both
of its types are Physical and its Physical Attack is downright pitiful.
Heck, this thing learns the best Normal type attack in the game (Double-Edge)
on its own and I still wouldn't recommend you use it! Too bad, really,
since it can learn great attacks like Shadow Ball and Steel Wing as well.

I don't think I need to spend much time explaining Quick Claw; Togetic
is slow as a rock and needs all the help it can get in the Speed department
(especially when using Encore). Safeguard makes status-healing Berries
of little use, and I'd just as soon save Bright Powder and Focus Band for
a Pokemon I was actually depending on (assuming you're battling with an
Item Clause).

Well...there's my somewhat lame attempt at making Togetic halfway
useful. I'm open to suggestions on this guy; with so many people requesting
him I figure someone is bound to know how to use him to greater
effect. As much as I enjoy ripping on a Pokemon's weak points, I feel uncomfortable
saying they flat-out suck...but until somebody proves me wrong, I'm willing
to make an exception in Togetic's case.

Here's hoping the relative uselessness of this "Happiness Pokemon"
doesn't bring you too much grief, and tune in tomorrow for another barb-filled
installment of Pokemon of the Day!
