What that means: Your face has just about the same width as length with no definitive corners at the jaw.

"For a round face, I would suggest a frame with sharp edges or angles to add some definition to highlight your bone structure," she says. Feeling really bold? Go for a cat-eye style. "You're naturally drawing the eye and the face up," says Albanese. "This helps to define and create a more angular face."

What that means: Your face is longer than it is wide, and the widths of your brow, cheekbones, and jaw are almost equal.

How to pick a pair: Lucky you: People with oval faces can rock a wide range of styles. "An oval face is the most versatile to fit," says optician Wendy Salle of Salle Opticians in Atlanta. "An oval face shape complements almost every style of frame," says Albanese. "You can really get away with anything."
If You Have a Heart-Shaped Face…
What that means: Also known as an inverted triangle face, your face is wider at the top and gradually narrows down toward the jawline.

How to pick a pair: "Choose a frame that mimics the features of your face shape," says Albanese, like ones that are wider on the top than the bottom. "They'll draw attention to your eyes instead of your chin, and help to fill out your face."
If You Have a Square Face…
What that means: All measurements are fairly uniform, and the width of your forehead, cheekbones, and jaw are roughly the same.

How to pick a pair: Skip sharply-angled glasses and instead aim for contrast with your face shape. "Round and oval-shaped lenses help balance the sharpness of a square-shaped face," explains Salle. Consider frames with an upward curve like a gentle cat-eye or butterfly frame to minimize the squareness of your face or frames with decoration on the top outer corner.

What that means: Your face is longer than it is wide, with wider cheekbones and a narrower chin and forehead.

How to pick a pair: "Use frames with soft, smooth lines like round or oval glasses," recommends Albanese. But to balance your face, make sure that the frames aren't wider than your cheekbones. Consider styles with extra detail at the top of the frame like a contrasting color or decorative cat eye.
