Justin, did you but validate that A Night at the Roxbury is one of your acme 90s guilty pleasure movies?
"N00000 .... YESSSSS ... MAN!"
I wanted to say now that I take seen 'The Terminal Days of Disco' I thought A Night at the Roxbury was a satirical combination of that with 'Dumb & Dumber' & 'Clueless'. But it turns out Roxbury and Last Days came out in the same yr. Regardless, this dumb simply fun movie that jams to the soundtrack of my early on music-loving life riding around in my older sister's car, had me smile and cracking up throughout.

Impromptu '90s nostalgia week continues with a genuinely underrated SNL feature, ane that I'm surprised hasn't been rediscovered for the fashion it deftly spins its series of sketches into a full-fledged story, for the way Kattan and Ferrell manage to mine pathos out of their respective caricatures, and for the way manager John Fortenberry leans hard into the Saturday Night FEVER artful, finding countless visual grace notes amidst the neon-soaked needledrops. The final moments shared by Dan Hedaya and Richard Grieco are unbelievably poignant.

Sir it is a physical impossibility -
Never seen this "Chris Kattan" fellow earlier in my life and I don't think I need to ever again.

John Fortenberry's "A Nighttime at the Roxbury" is a fun and forgettable comedy. Based on the Saturday Night Live characters famed for club-hopping and quick rejections, the film is skillful-natured fluff total of harmless sass and inconsequential free energy. There is a steady supply of dizzy laughs, but they amount only to empty cinematic calories.
Starring Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell as Doug and Steve Wutabi, the film follows the two through a series of misadventures including the requisite collisions with the LA lodge scene and bobbing of heads to Haddaway. In that location is not a lot going on narratively beyond the brothers' shot opening their own order and romancing the ladies, merely the brothers put on an amiable show. Kattan and…

Kind of stupidly great, really. And the money they budgeted for music licensing is quite impressive.

okay this was a total accident but I somehow never saw this, which is horrendous oversight. Beautiful costumes, made at the perfect time to parody itself and contempo men'due south mode trendzz. It comes as no fucking surprise any that the costumes are by Mona May. Colorful/character-driven/Coordinated, just like Clueless but for older males in European-cut sharkskin suits. The physicalities of Chris Kattan ever blow my mind a little scrap. This was lovely only information technology did still pb to my listening to Venga Boys many, many times. Including multiple viewings of the Six Flags dancing old guy commercials. A powerful picture show!

#28 in my 99 90's: Function 2 marathon.
So: thanks to Mystery Men, 200 Cigarettes, 54, Romy and Michele's High Schoolhouse Reunion, and The Wedding ceremony Vocaliser, the late 90's officially killed the Original Soundtrack flick. At present, unless the moving picture was pimping a embrace (which happened a lot), the glory days of the mid-80's soundtrack were dead. (Although, frankly, afterwards "My Middle Volition Continue" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Matter" and half a dozen offerings by Will Smith, who didn't want to put that canis familiaris down themselves?) (And mount its carcass on their wall every bit a bays?) To be replaced with the pining-for-yesteryear Forrest Gump, Lurid Fiction retro soundtrack as a dominion. Some movies, and shows, institute an…

This movie came out in that brief moment in time when Chris Kattan was a leading man and Volition Ferrell was sexy.
