We bought a Radian RXT in 2018 for our second child and loved it. It is easily the most secure car seat I have ever strapped my kid into, and we have owned a lot of Graco and installed in several different models and types of car. Also the easiest install, I've fought for more than 30 minutes in my mom's Ford Explorer with Graco and wanted to set the car on fire afterward for her making me move it over in 105 degree Texas weather. It is heavy, but I install mine and won't move it for any force in heaven or hell unless I am flying, so its not like I do a daily ruck march with it.

Unfortunately, Diono is charging the same price they did for once a premium fabric car seat cover and giving you a crappy, thin car seat cover. Just feeling the difference between the two year models, you can tell they downgraded for the 3RXT severely since putting out the RXT. It has less padding, it is much thinner and I don't see how it isn't going to pill in the wash. My kid is going to destroy it.

I've included pics of old versus new for reference, but most of it is in the "feel".

I find this very disappointing, because you want a quality fabric in a "upper trim" series car seat that is supposed to last 10 years and costs $300. It's the same cheap, slick microfiber that I have on a couple of wal-mart $30 booster seats, or on universal car covers. I imagine it will turn green/gray in the sun just like those did. My Radian RXT is the same color it was when I bought it and even at two years older, looks better and its been washed a zillion times.

At first, I thought they sent me a car seat with the wrong cover, because it says "Radian R" and my RXT was embroidered on, not stamped on the fabric like this one. It also shows on the box as "Radian RXT", so I think my confusion is reasonable. Then I looked at the pictures on their website and Amazon. Nope. They are all universally the same crappy fabric across the entire Radian series.

Shame on you, Diono, car seats are expensive enough when you have to replace them constantly as you have kids, or have more than one so you aren't dealing with the logistics of switching cars with your spouse or parents just to get kids from point A to point B. And parents could easily save themselves $100 or $200 by buying something a little less "premium".

Removing a star for the cheapness, because seeing it there makes me wonder if they are as "premium and innovative" as Diono claims. Companies that do things well would do well to do it across the board, especially if they want repeat business. I came back because I loved the RTX so much. Not sure if I needed another one that I would come back for a "4RTX" or whatever comes next unless they go back to better covers.

For reference, these install amazingly well in Toyota Corolla, Sienna and Highlander and even the tiny Prius, but rear face in a Prius puts the front seat up too far for anyone over 5'6 to sit comfortably (basically every adult in our family). It will install in a Ford Explorer, but you will still be angry if its leather, cause they really didn't want anyone to get anywhere near their latch to actually use them and they are set too close together, so actually cranking down and getting the seat tight enough is a hassle, but easier than installing a Graco carrier or convertible car seat. Don't let an entertainment package on a Ford Explorer fool you, not a young family with car seats car. :p

I spent a ton of time researching, trying to find the safest carseat possible for my son. After reading reviews and looking for weeks, I chose this carseat. When I first received it, I was very excited and optimistic even though it didn't fit well in my sedan. I bought a new car thinking that it would sit back father. My car has captain seats that move pretty far back and it's made no difference. My son sits so straight up and down that his head flops completely forward every time he falls asleep. I can't drive anywhere without the fear of him suffocating while I'm driving. I spent $320 on this carseat because of how safe it's supposed to be and am now going to have to buy another one because it is NOT safe at least for rear facing children.

I expected more from the "Cadillac" of car seats. Apparently, 'intuitive' is not one of Diono's strong points.

Pros:
-Quality construction and materials; seat is solid, heavy, and even the cover fabric is thick and durable feeling
-Form factor; like the narrow profile and 3-across dimensions
-Safety factors and ratings; I like the over-engineered approach when it comes to safety, and all online reviews seem to reflect this.
-Includes anchor strap
-Includes lots of attachments for rear-facing setup (are not using these)

Cons:
-Setup. Is. Ridiculous. It may seem nice that the cover hides all the straps and connection devices in the back, but I've purchased $50 car seats that were more intuitive. Diono needs to take notes from BOB Strollers. You'll become very familiar with the manual (which is also hidden inside the seat, not in the box).
-Method of adjustment is terrible. Can't change strap height without removing and re-threading the straps.
-There are no intuitive or highlighted handles anywhere on this thing.
-Serial # and Date of Manufacture are freaking hidden on the back, under the seat cover. Have fun tearing your hair out finding this elusive sticker after you install this thing and realize you need to register it.
-Harness straps are too narrow. They cut into my 3yo's neck on their highest setting.
-Locking Clips aren't well-aligned with the actual metal brackets in the seat. So when you're cranking down on the Locking Clip strap, it's basically at a right-angle with the brackets in the seat so its very difficult to actually get it tight enough.

Overall, its very well made, just poorly designed. It's not intuitive, and not as functional as it should be for a $300-range car seat. Hopefully my kid is comfortable in it, otherwise I'm returning it and buying another Recaro.

These car seats are perfect for our situation. We're expecting our third child in June but need to do 3 across in our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. We have a graco infant carrier and 2 Diono seats in the back of our car, one forward facing and one rear facing. They fit perfectly. Only complaint is the install. We've only ever had graco seats and they install a lot more easily than these. But overall we're happy and would recommend these seats.

I want to start by saying I LOVE the previous model of this carseat, however this 2020 seat has small differences that I'm not a fan of and it seems more difficult than my first one to install for some reason. For one, the chest buckle is different, doesn't seem as sturdy as my first. Maybe I'm just a fan of my first one, that I don't like change.

Love it so much, we just bought a second to have one in both vehicles! Very solid, doesn't move at all even when turning ( my peg perego viaggio 4-35 would still tilt somewhat when turning) ! Also my son is now 8 months and was constantly holding his head forward in the infant carrier in order to see outside and this was no matter how we adjusted the angle or headrest.. now he keeps his little head firmly placed against the seat as he should and can see outside! He also looks very comfortable as he has more space . Very pleased and love the fact that it will grow with him until he no longer requires any seat or booster! I know some people mentioned not liking the material or the fact that there is no back cover... personally I cannot compare to their previous models but I have no issue with the quality of the material and you can't really see the back as it pretty much is blocked by the front seat, so not a deal breaker. I did however have to purchase the angle ajuster for my Lincoln mkc as the backseat is quite small. Took all the space available in my spouses RAM and just fit without the angle ajuster.

I agree with the other reviews in terms of quality of fabric it does feel cheaper. The reason why I know it feels cheaper is because my husband for his car we went with the 2019 model Radian RX in cherry red which is a less superior model however far more superior in fabric quality. Look carefully folks at the pictures displayed for the new 2020 Radian 3RXT do you see a picture of the back of the car seat...no you don't. This model claims to have an easier system of cleaning the fabric to make it easier to remove. Well I figured out why it is because they didn't put a cover on the back of this car seat. You can see the entire inside of this car seat but not my husbands older less superior model which looks more complete and finished with a backing. Yea as for the other reviews kind of a put off to have such an expensive car seat with cheaper fabric for 400 bucks! However for us it was very easy to install and yea it is very easy to put baby in and out.

Arrived today, not more than an hour and I didn't wait long to write a review. I was so excited to receive this car seat because I was expecting that the quality would be good. I am over and beyond disappointed with this product. 1st thing I noticed was the quality of the fabric. Material is cheap. Stitches are coming off and the wedge foam doesn't fit well. It felt like it is a joke. Too expensive for a $400 car seat. It seemed like it has been washed a couple of times and then sold as brand new! User manual not enough info, e.g. Adjusting the bottom buckle harness to the middle. Things like that. I will sadly return this car seat. The only thing I like about it is the colour.

I love this carseat, I just bought it for my almost 2 year old daughter because she wanted to sit beside her 2 month old twin siblings but her carseat was go big but this one is the perfect size. She would cry and squirm around trying to get out of her other seat but this one she gets excited and climbs in herself now. I absolutely love this carseat and will be buying 2 other ones for my twins when their a little bigger. My biggest worry was that the color wasn't going to be the same as in the picture but it was exactly as the picture looked, its a really nice bright red color. Next time I'm going to get the blue and pink one's, I 100% recommend this car seat!!

I really wanted this seat to work. I'm 6' and drive a Chevy Volt and now have 2 kids. The rear facing baby seat takes up lots of space so I have the forward facing toddler behind me. I've been using the Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 for the older child since she graduated from a Chicco Keyfit 30. The Graco is great except I feel like it's a bit too deep for my car--I always have to move the seat forward a couple inches and I fi ally had enough. Found this seat and hoped to save 4 inches of depth. Seat looks great, instructions not the best, and the installation was much trickier than the Graco. Once I installed the 3RXT there was a LOT of play left and right and forward and back. Like maybe 6" worth. I rechecked the instructions and reinstalled only to have the same loose install. It appears the UAS strap cinch is right where the strap bends to go into the seat channel so it's impossible to get it as tight as the Graco and install to a safe usable point. Having the two side by side, the quality and user friendliness of the Graco is exceptionally better than the 3RXT. I will be returning the Dioni and will be dreaming of a low profile seat that installs safely..
